Sharpening the sword of the spirit

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit–which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17)

As believers we know the power, importance, and authority of the scriptures. We cannot and should not neglect the reading of the Bible and our memorization of it. From the moment we come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we are involved in combat. Paul’s teaching, inspired by the Holy Spirit, regarding the importance of knowing God’s word expresses such: the truth of Gods promises in Scripture is our only offensive means of battle.

I’ve found in my walk, it helpful to regularly read and meditate upon certain verses and passages. I share them with you in hope they will encourage, strengthen, and guide. Knowing full well that the Father will use them for our best good and His glory!

And by all means add to, and subtract from as you see fit. I only give as a starting point: these are the verses and passages that, in my opinion, keep one focused on what’s important, communicate key truths and essential doctrines. And of course it’s highly suggested that you read the context of all verses and study for yourself.
