There exists within many believers and myself I’ve found an odd occurrence. As Scripture speaks about the wickedness and chaos leading up until Christ comes. We, I, desire our Lord to return so bad that we find ourselves almost rejoicing at the chaos coming about.
I confess that I am not shocked by events, if anything it’s exciting in that the birth-pangs (Matthew 24:8) being experienced point to the return of Christ. Now part of me understands this oddity: as believers we so want the Lord Jesus to return! But perhaps this way of thinking is missing something?
While yes we know wickedness, rebellion and chaos will increase, we should be filled with sorrow over the state of the world. More so, we should be about our, Father’s work. As we see the day approaching let us be filled with the fire of our approaching redeemer. Let us mourn for the wickedness of society knowing it dishonors and breaks our God’s heart.
Let us pray without ceasing, coming before the Father who rules all and makes all things new. The times are indeed evil, the days dark and misery rampant. Let us do as we are commanded by Our Lord in loving and preaching the hope of redemption in Christ Jesus in whom we love and have our hope. This world is dying, let us do what we are commanded to do by our, Lord!
Heavenly Father, we await the return of our Lord. The times are so wicked, we are so tired of these evil days. We eagerly await the Savior’s return. Help us not rejoice in depravity and chaos, let us be salt and light as you have called us to be. Forgive us for our weakness, indifference, and laxity in the evil days in which we live. Please light us ablaze with your love, power and purpose. You are a “consuming fire” (Hebrews 11:29) please please ignite us Lord. Start a revival, please…start with me: Guide and lead to your glory, honor, and praise! In your beloved Son’s name. Amen.
