The face of sins reward

I’ve always been pretty stubborn. Perhaps you can associate. I always had to find out for myself, take “the hard road.” If someone suggests something i listen and go about my way. If I’m ordered to do something i immediately rebel. As a result of this hard-heartedness you see, is my rather chaotic life. I’m thankful to be alive most definitely and take it day by day and rest in my Savior Jesus Christ. I’m in financial ruin, without a vehicle, and my face is missing having blown it off with a shotgun. I do not write for pity, praise or anything else. I’m writing to communicate a shocking truth: sin is indeed as evil as our Holy God declares.

Reading the Scriptures we see how the world we live in has become so messed up, learn of our rebellion, the coming judgment, and the amazing redemption offered in Christ Jesus.

I had always thought, “yeah, sin is bad.” I am living proof to attest to its cost, deceit and the outcome of following its “master.” I was religious, didn’t know Christ, but certainly religion. I was engulfed in sin: lust, greed, pride, hate, idolatry and you name it.

The enemy promises, as he did to Eve, “try it, it’s fun, it can’t hurt.” In shiny wrapper, bright lights, the promise of pleasure, purpose, peace, acceptance and wisdom, it entices. We are prone to desire rebellion to our fallen natures to begin with, so the lure is quite strong. Like a dog being fed poisoned candy from a strangers hand we run up panting, gulping it down.

I was promised freedom, I was promised pleasure, I was promised “fun.” I sit here with a missing face, destitute and from a purely human perspective, hopeless. This is the result of sin, this is the result of the rebellion and “freedom” we so favor! This my friends is the result of following the ways of the enemy, the serpent who deceives and destroys. I do not blame satan, no, “the devil didn’t make me do it.” I knew better, I desired, I ate, I suffered, I died.

I am sitting here writing today by our God’s amazing grace, power, and purpose. I live by the grace of The Risen Lord Jesus Christ. I am filled with hope at enormous sins forgiven, iniquity atoned, righteousness imputed, and a future hope free of sin, its effects and devastating outcomes.

We are all tempted to sin, we are fallen in a fallen world. The wages of sin indeed are death. Our Lord knows best, let us not be blinded by its twinkling lights and deceptive scent. It is death my brothers and sisters, it is death!

“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death” (Proberbs 14:12).

“because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son” (Hebrews 12:6).

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman” (Genesis 3:4).

“So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Roman’s 7:21-25).

“They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus *said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham. But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. 41 You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of [d]lies. 45 But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.”(John 8:39-47).

Father God, thank You so much for Your mercy and grace in all You do. Thank You so much for saving us from the Powers of sin, death, and the devil by Christ’s sufferings, death, and victorious resurrection! Please help us Father to see sin as we ought, its horror, shame, and disgrace. May we hate sin as we ought, as indeed You Our Redeemer does. May we walk in the newness of life bought us in Christ Jesus, not by the letter of the law, but by the Spirit who brings freedom and peace. Please guide, lead, protect, and direct: all glory, in the Lord, Jesus Christ’s blessed name. Amen
